Choosing which University to go to can cause a lot of unnecessary stress and pressure on young people, but does it really matter what University you attend?
Many would say yes, but does your decision really effect your future job prospects. We all know the likes of the university of Oxford and Cambridge University; it is believed that having these prestigious names on your CV automatically passes you to the top of the list. However, this isn’t the case in most instances. Although of course, there will always be companies where this trend follows, but this is a minority opinion. A degree is respected no matter where you gained it, in the same way we don’t troll through the schools you attended, we simply consider the qualifications you have.
Many news companies have looked into this topic, with one stating that 3% of graduates were affected by the educational institutions they chose. The likelihood that where you attend will affect your prospects is so slim, that your decision should be based on where you are most likely to succeed, as this is what really matters.
When choosing the University to go to, you should focus on; where fits you, where you feel you can learn the most, where you feel you can make the most of an opportunity and most of all a place you feel comfortable to achieve in. The pressure on young people to make the right decisions is immense, especially when it comes to their education.
So, don’t let a University name put you off; pick somewhere where you can see yourself achieving the most, but also remember to pick somewhere where you are going to feel comfortable. Enjoy the experience and make the most of it, you will not regret it!
