We have an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Estimator based in Bedfordshire for one of our clients on a Temp to Perm basis.
Summary of the Assistant Estimator role
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000
Location: Bedfordshire
Hours: Monday – Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm
Responsibilities of the Assistant Estimator
- Assist in the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for a variety of construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and other project documentation
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers
- Perform quantity take-offs using estimating software and Excel.
- Maintain and update the estimating database with current rates and supplier information.
- Support the Estimating Team with bid preparation and documentation.
- Assist in post-tender reviews and handover to project delivery teams.
- Attend internal meetings and occasional site visits as required.
- Monitor industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and supplier developments.
Requirements for a successful Assistant Estimator
- Some prior experience in an estimating or construction-related role (e.g., site engineer, quantity surveying, procurement).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general IT literacy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
